Our History

Many people helped shape our vision for buygeorgia. We traveled throughout Georgia in our quest to find a way to make a difference for Georgia.

We spent time with many folks including business owners, chambers of commerce, Georgia charities, government leaders and other Georgians. Each had a unique perspective on how we could help.

Business owners shared that they struggled to grow their businesses and wished that more Georgians were aware of them and did more business with them.

Chambers of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) leaders shared their struggle to find ways to support and promote their local businesses, community events, and festivals.

We visited with several Georgia based charities who shared their struggle to make a stronger connection with more Georgians and engage them in their organization's mission, needs, and fundraising events.

State and local government officials shared that creating new jobs and generating more commerce are critically important for the economic health of the state. And a healthy Georgia economy helps to fund the many programs that are important to all Georgians.

As a result of these conversations and the ideas generated from them, we formed a company called the Georgia Commerce Group Inc. to serve as an “umbrella organization” for launching programs we feel will make a difference in the lives of Georgians.

We launched the buygeorgia program, our first initiative, in September 2004. Buygeorgia is built on the belief that Georgians can do more business with each other and spark economic development throughout the state.

Buygeorgia provides an online community where Georgia companies promote their businesses and provide online promotions and discounts to Georgians.

Buygeorgia also provides a comprehensive listing of events taking place in our local communities sponsored by Georgia Chambers of Commerce and Charity organizations.

As we become more "Georgia Conscious" in purchasing decisions for our businesses and homes, Georgia Companies grow, more Georgians find jobs, and together we build a stronger Georgia.

We hope that you will join us in making a difference whether it’s adding a Georgia company to your supplier list, taking your family on a trip to one of our quaint towns or charming vacation destinations, consuming a Georgia made good or service, or simply dining at a family owned restaurant.
